Alexandra Street & Birkbeck Drive, Parkhurst – Roadworks

Roadworks have commenced at the intersection of Alexandra Street & Birkbeck Drive, Parkhurst. The works consist of the full construction of a new roundabout at this location.

Announcement : Stage one of the Alexandra Street & Birkbeck Drive Roundabout has commenced. This will involve a full closure of Birkbeck Drive between Alexandra Street and Bush Crescent. A detour will be in place via McLaughlin and Wade Streets.

Botanic Gardens and Zoo Redevelopment

This project will transform the Botanic Gardens into a botanical collection of regional and national significance, with playground areas, new pavilion structures, a new Fernery, and reinvigorated food and retail areas.
The Zoo will shine as a leader in animal exhibitions, conservation and welfare and will provide exceptional visitor experiences and new animal attractions.

Callan Street, Wandal – Roadworks

Roadworks are about to commence in Callan Street, Wandal in front of properties at 2, 4, and 6 Callan Street. The works to be undertaken will include excavation and replacement of a short section of kerb and channel, and the removal and reconstruction of three concrete driveways.

Announcement : During this time, Callan Street will have speed and parking restrictions in place. The street will also be reduced to one lane around the work area.

Canning Street, The Range - Roadworks

Roadworks are about to commence in Canning Street between North Street and Cambridge Street, The Range. The works to be undertaken will include the installation of stormwater drainage, reconstruction of kerb and channel and road pavement, construction of concrete paths and centre medians,placement of new asphalt surfacing, and installation of signage and linemarking.

Announcement : During this time, Canning Street will be reduced to a one-way road with the travel direction from North Street towards Cambridge Street. A temporary lane closure and detour at the intersection of Canning Street and Albert Street will be implemented from 15 January 2026, requiring all Albert Street traffic to turn left only.

Col Austin Park - Natural Resource Management

On-ground works are being carried out at Col Austin Park as part of Council's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program.

Duthie Park - Natural Resource Management

On-ground restoration of the vegetated buffer along the overland flow pathway (lower section) works are being carried out by community partners as part of Council's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program

Eichelberger Park - Natural Resource Management

On-ground works are being carried out at Eichelberger Park as part of Council's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program.

Eton Street & Considine Street, West Rockhampton - Roadworks

Roadworks are about to commence in Eton Street (North Street Extended to Willis Street) and Considine Street (Eton Street to Harrow Street), West Rockhampton. The works will include constructing a concrete footpath along with concrete kerb and channel installation.

Announcement : During this period, temporary speed reductions will be in place on Eton Street (from North Street Extended to Willis Street) and Considine Street (from Eton Street to Harrow Street), with occasional short-term use of some parking spaces required.

Fraser Park (Nurim) - Natural Resource Management

On-ground bush regeneration, weeding and litter control works are being carried out by community partners as part of Council's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program.
