Your Right to Information
At Rockhampton Regional Council, we are committed to transparency, accountability and protecting your personal information.
Under Queensland's Right to Information Act 2009 and Information Privacy Act 2009, you have the right to access information held by the Council, unless there is a valid reason to withhold it. These laws also ensure your personal information is collected, stored, used responsibly and protected.
What is Right to Information?
The Right to Information Act 2009 promotes open, transparent, accountable government in Queensland. It gives individuals the legal right to access information held by public sector agencies, including Council, unless there is a valid reason not to provide it - such as where disclosure would be contrary to the public interest
What is Information Privacy?
The Information Privacy Act 2009 gives you the right to:

Request corrections if your information is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date
Council manages personal information in accordance with the Queensland Privacy Principles (QPP's) which set out how your data must be handled.

Making a Formal Application
If the information you need isn't publicly available, you can submit a formal application under the Right to Information Act 2009
