Disaster Management

Disasters (natural or unnatural) can cause severe disruption and major damage to communities and services. They can occur anywhere and they are generally unpredictable. Hazards are dangerous conditions or events with potential for injury, loss of life, and/or damage to property, agriculture or environment.

Rockhampton Regional Council is committed to ensuring our Region is prepared for any disaster. This is achieved through the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and by delivering the Local Disaster Management Plan. The Council, with the support of the LDMG, puts into place mitigation, preparation, response and recovery strategies and arrangements.

In the Rockhampton Region we are at potential risk from natural hazards such as floods, storms and bushfires at different times throughout the year.
