Council is continually looking at ways to improve the flood resilience of our community and has been assessing the flood mitigation options for wider Rockhampton as part of its commitment to protecting all areas of the city from flooding, as per the Flood Management Strategy(PDF, 23MB). Council has engaged expert hydrologists to provide options for consideration for both North and South Rockhampton.
Protection of the city has been prioritised and Council will fund parts of the works by itself, as well as seeking funding from Federal and State Governments. The whole of Rockhampton will see benefit in flood mitigation as these measures will protect our homes, our infrastructure and our community.
