Alexandra Street & Johnson Street, Parkhurst – Roadworks

Roadworks have commenced at the intersection of Alexandra Street and Johnson Street, Parkhurst. The works will include extending existing stormwater, widening the intersection, asphalt resurfacing and concreting kerb and channel.

Announcement : Stage One will be the widening of Alexandra Street and will be conducted under Traffic Control with temporary traffic lights in place between 6.00am and 4.00pm on working days. This is expected to be in place for two to three weeks.

Council requests that drivers exercise caution during these works, obeying all signage, and do not park vehicles on the road whilst the works are being undertaken.

Botanic Gardens and Zoo Redevelopment

This project will transform the Botanic Gardens into a botanical collection of regional and national significance, with playground areas, new pavilion structures, a new Fernery, and reinvigorated food and retail areas.
The Zoo will shine as a leader in animal exhibitions, conservation and welfare and will provide exceptional visitor experiences and new animal attractions.

Broadway Street, Depot Hill (East Street to Quay Street) – Roadworks

Roadworks have commenced in Broadway Street, Depot Hill (between East Street and Quay Street). The works to be undertaken will include construction of a 7-metre-wide bitumen sealed roadway with kerb on the northern side.

Announcement : During this time, Broadway Street will be closed to through traffic from 417 East Street to Quay Street. Access to businesses and residences within this section will be maintained.

Col Austin Park - Natural Resource Management

On-ground works are being carried out at Col Austin Park as part of Council's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program.

Derby Street, Rockhampton (Alma Lane to Denison Street) - Roadworks

Roadworks have commenced along Derby Street, Rockhampton (between Alma Lane and Denison Street) to allow construction of a raised safety platform.

Announcement : Lane closures will be in place along Derby Street (between Alma Lane and Denison Street).

There will also be a lane closure for vehicles travelling south along Denison Street (between Derby Street and Stanley Street) with an associated detour on Monday, 19 May 2025 only.

Council requests that drivers exercise caution, obeying all signage whilst the works are being undertaken.

Duthie Park - Natural Resource Management
