German Street Park - Natural Resource Management

On-ground works are being carried out at German Street Park as part of Council's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program.   

Schedule: Intermittently throughout 2026

Delivery partners: 

  • Capricornia Catchment’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work trainees
  • Capricornia Catchment’s 4C’s (Conservation, Creeks, Cycling and Community) project with funding support from the Queensland Government’s Community Sustainability Action Grant (Round 8 - Conservation Outcomes for Watercourses)
  • With thanks to the local community and members of the Rockhampton Mountain Bike Club Inc.

Site objectives:

  • Support natural bush regeneration using native species
  • Increase awareness and protection of threatened species
  • Reduce weed density and distribution through targeted management
  • Support litter control and disposal
  • Improve environmental amenity and visitor experience
  • Reduce erosion and sedimentation within the catchment
  • Improve canopy cover and shading
  • Increase biodiversity for native flora and fauna
  • Strengthen site stewardship through community and volunteer involvement

Work activities:

  • Riparian restoration works (weed control, mulching and planting of native species)
  • Routine maintenance (watering, weeding and litter control)
