Rockhampton Region has only one landfill. Waste from all Council's and most commercial general waste services across the region are disposed of here, plus commercial and domestic customers using the facility to dispose of waste also. The landfill is scientifically engineered to contain and prevent environmental contamination. This is why it is important to ensure waste is diverted to the correct management systems to ensure resource recovery is optimised and contamination and waste to landfill is managed correctly and reduced at every opportunity.

Lakes Creek Road Waste Management Facility (LCR WMF) site includes a Community Recycling Centre and Reuse Shop and other facilities to dispose of domestic quantities of some regulated waste like paint, motor oil and cooking oil; gas cylinders; re-saleable household items; appliances and e-waste such as computers and TVs, plus disposal and recycling options for much more, all to promote the longevity of our region's landfill and protect the environment for our future generations.
