Definitions

  • Cleanfill (Clean Soil):
Clay, gravel, sand, soil, and rock under 100 mm, free of any contaminants such as concrete, bitumen, green waste, timber, or other materials.

  • Inert Waste:
Materials that do not undergo significant physical, chemical, or biological changes when disposed of. These are stable and do not decompose or produce harmful substances.
    Examples include:

    • Bricks
    • Concrete
    • Tiles
    • Ceramics

Important: If tiles, concrete, or other inert materials are suspected of containing hazardous substances such as asbestos, they cannot be accepted as cleanfill or inert waste.

  • Mixed Earth and Inert Mixed:
Soil containing green waste or concrete, bricks, asphalt, reinforcing steel—either separated or mixed.

Important Information

  • Clean fill soil is not accepted at other waste facilities in the Rockhampton Region.
  • Soil must be free of contaminants such as chemicals, rubbish, or hazardous materials.
  • Loads containing mixed waste will be charged at the general waste rate.

These requirements help ensure:

  • Environmental Protection: Preventing contamination of landfills and surrounding areas.
  • Public Health and Safety: Avoiding hazardous materials such as asbestos that pose serious health risks.
  • Efficient Waste Management: Keeping cleanfill and inert waste separate allows for better recycling and reuse, reducing landfill pressure.

By following these guidelines, you help maintain a safe and sustainable waste management system for the Rockhampton Region.
