The Capricornian presents ECHOES OF EUROPE
with Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra, featuring violinist Margaret Blades

Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra invites Central Queensland audiences to be swept away by the colour, drama, and brilliance of Europe’s great musical masters. Under the baton of Chief Conductor Owen Clarke, RSO continues its mission to bring the full breadth of orchestral music to our region with a luminous mid‑winter program.

The evening will open with Mozart’s sparkling, effervescent, and irresistibly theatrical Overture to The Magic Flute —an explosion of wit, wonder, and symphonic charm. We’ll then welcome acclaimed Australian violinist Margaret Blades to the Pilbeam Theatre stage for Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto in E Minor, a work celebrated for its lyrical beauty, emotional depth, and breathtaking virtuosity.

The program will conclude with Dvorak’s storm‑lit, dramatic, and powerfully expressive Symphony No. 8 in G Major, a youthful masterpiece that surges with energy and Romantic intensity.
