Plover Street Reserve - Natural Resource Management

On-ground works are being carried out at the Plover Street Reserve as part of Council's Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program.

Schedule: Intermittently throughout 2026

Site objectives:

  • Restore and protect an ecologically significant remnant Regional Ecosystem (Semi-Evergreen Vine Thicket)
  • Increase fire and flood resilience, strengthening the landscape’s ability to recover after natural disturbances
  • Manage and remove invasive pest species and litter to support ecological recovery
  • Increase biodiversity of native flora and fauna
  • Improve environmental amenity and shade across the site
  • Reduce erosion and sediment runoff entering the Fitzroy River
  • Encourage community and volunteer involvement in protecting this high‑value natural asset

Work activities:

  • Restoration works (weed control, mulching and planting of native species)
  • Routine maintenance (watering, weeding and litter control)
