Rockhampton Regional Council is upgrading two crucial rural roads to improve safety and deliver lasting benefits to the community.

The over $3.1 million South Yaamba Road Safety and Resilience Improvement Project commenced recently and will see just over six kilometres of road upgraded from gravel to a higher-grade bitumen surface.

Works will span from just before the Limestone Creek crossing to just beyond the Seymour Road and South Yaamba Road intersection, with the six-month project completing the link between two previously sealed sections to create one continuous stretch of bitumen.

The works also involve constructing new floodways and widening an existing one to allow vehicles to pass simultaneously.

The project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and Council, with the Australian Government providing over $2.5 million under the Safer Local Roads and Infrastructure Program.

Construction on Bills Road in Marmor is entering its final stages, with approximately 1.2 kilometres of road being sealed, along with a floodway upgrade.

The $420,000 Bills Road Project is jointly funded, with the Australian Government providing $410,000 under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, and Council providing the remaining $10,000.
