Local church organist and musician Ivan Richardson is thrilled to present "These Are a Few of Our Favourite Hymns" as part of the Rockhampton Seniors Month activities.

Over recent years Ivan has presented this event in various local churches and this year, Dean Ross Nicholson and the St Paul’s Parish Council are happy to again be hosting the event in St Paul's Anglican Cathedral.

The afternoon provides a great opportunity to not only sing a number of specially selected hymns but to also hear the back stories of what the composer / lyricist were experiencing at the time they composed / wrote the Hymn/s and why the hymns have been chosen as favourites this year. These back stories always provide for a greatly enhanced singing experience.

Ivan has been working on special arrangements of the hymns featuring enriching harmonies and key modulations and is looking forward to presenting the musical accompaniment on his Roland Grand Orchestral Concert Organ, “Artie” which will provide additional colour and texture to the music through versatile instrumentation.

To provide a full afternoon of hymn singing with musical interludes, Ivan will be joined by a number of Special Guests including Unisong Choir accompanied by Mary Steer along with pianist Amy Charlesworth.

"These Are a Few of Our Favourite Hymns" is a very popular and valued Annual Seniors Month Event giving people of all ages and denominations the opportunity to experience great joy and blessing as they join together in singing some of the most loved and cherished Hymns of all time.

Following "These Are a Few of Our Favourite Hymns" everyone is welcome to enjoy afternoon tea in the hall.
