A Rockhampton Regional Councillor is ensuring our region’s tourist attractions are at the top of the list for people road tripping around Australia, as Chair of the new Drive Inland Promotions Association.

Councillor Tony Williams said he was delighted to be heading up the new organisation, which was formed when three highway group associations – Australia’s Country Way, Rural Getaway, and Leichardt Highway - decided to pool their resources.

“Drive Inland is the one stop shop for those embarking on the great Australian driving holiday from the south coast up to Central Queensland.

“Australia may be known for its beaches but there are some absolutely stunning sights and experiences inland – not least in the Rockhampton Region itself.

“We have recently launched a new website which has a treasure trove of itineraries and attractions. Our old favourites are on there - including the Heritage Village, fishing in the Fitzroy, and our heritage listed buildings – but so too are our new investments like the Riverside Precinct, the Mount Archer canopy walk, and the First Turkey Mountain Bike trails.

“By the three associations coming together, and six Councils across Queensland working in partnership, we can share our resources and ensure even more people know about the incredible journeys available to them.”
