Taste of the World Cultural Festival 2025

Central Queensland Multicultural Association (CQMA) and Rockhampton Regional Council are excited to celebrate Multicultural Queensland Month at this year’s Taste of the World Cultural Festival in Rockhampton on Saturday (23 August).
This year the festival promises to be bigger and better than last year, with plenty to see and do, including a concert by headline act, Joe Tee and Afrodisa Band.
Some of the attractions on the day include:
- Coconut husking competition
- Luminous Lantern making workshop and parade by Multicultural Australia
- Community based food stalls
- Cultural performances by community groups
- Arts and crafts activities
- Cooking competition
- Concert by Joe Tee and Afrodisa Band from 6.45pm
Rockhampton Regional Council Communities, Culture and Heritage Spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson encouraged people to attend the free event.
“Taste of the World Cultural Festival is a celebration of the rich cultural contributions everyone brings to our multicultural Queensland,” he said.
“Rockhampton Regional Council is very proud to be a partner of this event. We have a strong multicultural community here in Rockhampton with dozens of nationalities represented and it will be great to see a lot of those nations displaying their culture during the festival,” he said
CQMA Manager Darren Mundie said: “CQMA is really looking forward to celebrating Multicultural Queensland month in the best way possible with Taste of the World Cultural Festival, a must-do event for Rockhampton, celebrating the many cultures, languages and world views that make our state.
“This community-led festival showcasing the diversity and creativity, focusing on – its people. Expect a spectacular display of our vibrant cultural mix of performances and delicious foods, unforgettable lantern parade at dusk, that showcase the talents and contributions of our culturally and linguistically diverse communities,” he said.
“The festival attracts a strong support across the community – from government, corporate, community organisations to indigenous and migrant communities.
“Taste of the World Cultural Festival is proudly supported by Rockhampton Regional Council, Multicultural Affairs Queensland, CQUniversity and Multicultural Australia, with sponsorship from QMAG and Stanwell.” Mr Mundie said.
This year’s headline act is Joe Tee and Afrodisa band. Fronted by Ghanan singer Joe Tee, the band is one of Queensland’s most sought after combos, performing reggae, calypso and African sounds, mixed with soul and R&B. Joe Tee and Afrodisa have delighted audiences around Australia with their lively and very danceable stage shows. See them on the mainstage at the Taste of the World Cultural Festival from 6.45pm.
Taste of the World Cultural Festival will be held at Riverside Park Rockhampton on Saturday 23 August 2025 from 1pm to 8pm. Entry is free. Cash only at food stalls.
ROAD CLOSURE: Quay Street will be closed from 6am on Saturday 23 August to 1am Sunday 24 August.
