Local musician to star in July’s Morning Melodies

One of Central Queensland’s most well known entertainers, Angelo Conway, stars in July's Morning Melodies at the Pilbeam Theatre.
His show, Hits from the Great American Songbook, focuses on music that was created for Broadway and Hollywood musical film from the1920s to 1950s and includes songs such as Fly me to the Moon, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Unchained Melody, The Way you Look Tonight, Come fly with Me, Fever, Edelweiss, Luck be a Lady Tonight and Singin’ in the Rain, just to name a few.
Angelo will be accompanied by a 4-piece band of some of the region’s best musicians: Stephanie Quinlan on bass, Cory Owens on drums, David Schirmer on piano, Shaun Fogharty on sax.
The show is the second of three local performances that are part of this year’s Morning Melodies season at the Pilbeam Theatre, produced by Rockhampton Regional Council.
Angelo has been working with Melbourne-based theatrical producer Margaret Fisk to prepare the show for Rockhampton theatregoers.
Hits from the Great American Songbook is supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), a partnership between the Queensland Government and Rockhampton Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
Morning Melodies is presented by Rockhampton Regional Council.
Angelo Conway: Hits from the Great American Songbook will be performed at the Pilbeam Theatre on Monday 7 July at 11am. A free morning tea will be available from 10am. ABOUT ANGELO CONWAY
Angelo is best known to local theatre audiences for his roles in the Rockhampton Regional Council Productions of Grease, Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots and Wicked. He has toured the East Coast of Australia over the last 15 years with his indie rock band, The Short Fall and more recently fronts the 10-piece cover band Indigo Electric. Angelo is the producer of local production, Broadway & Beyond with whom he co-directs with his wife Meegan, featuring many of the cast & band members from Rockhampton region’s musical theatre community. Away from performing, Angelo runs a graphic and website design studio and enjoys spending downtime with his family.
