Rockhampton Regional Council is encouraging the community to have its say on the future of South Gracemere, with only a few days remaining to provide feedback to help shape the Local Area Plan.

Residents, businesses and community members have until Friday, 10 July 2026 to share their ideas by completing a short online survey, or by contributing to the interactive map on Council’s Engage website.

Planning and Regulation Councillor Grant Mathers said it was important for community members to voice their ideas for the future of Gracemere before consultation closes.

“We’re entering the final stage of this initial consultation, and I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t had their say to take a few minutes to get involved,” Cr Mathers said.

“The ideas we receive now will help us better understand what matters most to our community and provide valuable direction as we prepare the Draft South Gracemere Local Area Plan.

“Community feedback will be considered alongside technical investigations and planning requirements to help shape future planning directions for South Gracemere.

“Once the draft plan has been prepared, it will be released for another round of community consultation, giving residents another opportunity to review the proposed vision and provide feedback before it is finalised.”

Divisional Councillor Edward Oram said there were simple ways for people to contribute.

“Whether you’ve got five minutes to complete the survey or want to share more detailed ideas through the interactive map, there is an option for everyone to have their say,” Cr Oram said.

“The interactive map is a great way for people to pinpoint specific locations and tell us exactly what they’d like to see, whether that’s more parks, new community facilities, additional trees, future housing or highlighting areas where they would like to see commercial development.

“Every comment helps build a clearer picture of what the community values and where improvements could make the biggest difference.

“I’d also like to thank everyone who has already contributed, whether online or by speaking with the project team at one of our recent pop-up stalls. Every piece of feedback received will help inform the next stage of planning.”

As part of the preliminary information gathering stage of the project, community members can get involved by completing the online survey and interactive map via Council’s Engage page before 10 July 2026: https://engage.rockhamptonregion.qld.gov.au/growing-south-gracemere
