Rockhampton Regional Council Officers will be conducting inspections at properties in Frenchville from 6 July to 27 September 2026 as part of Council’s annual Animal Inspection Program.

The program aims to ensure pet owners are complying with State and Local Laws, including requirements for animals to be microchipped, registered and kept in suitable enclosures.

Planning and Regulation Councillor Grant Mathers said Frenchville was selected following a detailed review of complaints received from the community as well as animal records for the area.

“Previous Animal Inspection Programs have been carried out in Norman Gardens, Berserker, Kawana and Gracemere,” Cr Mathers said.

“We selected Frenchville as data shows high rates of wandering dogs, as well as increasing complaints relating to barking, general keeping conditions and dog attacks.

“This makes it an appropriate suburb to focus on for 2026, so our officers can educate owners on pet laws, and address any questions or concerns around responsible pet ownership.”

Local Laws Officers will check that animals are registered and microchipped, and that properties have secure, appropriate enclosures to prevent pets from wandering.

“The focus of the program is making sure pets are being kept responsibly,” Cr Mathers said.

“If you’ve microchipped your dog, kept their registration up to date, and reliably care for your pets, that’s all we are focused on.”

Inspection times will take place between 7am and 6pm, Monday to Sunday, across the 12-week program.

Residents are reminded that dog registration renewal notices will be issued in July and are due at the end of August. A discount applies if registrations are paid by the due date.

Payments can be made in person at Customer Service Centres, online via the eServices webpage, by BPAY, or by contacting Council’s Customer Service Centre.

Residents who need to update their contact or address details are asked to call customer service on 4932 9000.
