Rockhampton Regional Council is taking the next step in our community’s ongoing recovery efforts with a Mayoral Minute built around partnering with other levels of Government to support the community and business.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said today’s announcement built on last month’s discussions with local MPs on a joint response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Today’s Mayoral Minute was really about how we take our recovery forward from here,” Mayor Strelow said.

“The first thing we’ve done is agreed to share the results of our community recovery surveys with local state and federal members so that together we can secure financial and other support for local businesses and community groups.

“At the same time, Council has announced its own Financial Hardship Grant Programs for community groups as well as a Business Digital Capability Program to directly support local operators and upskill them immediately.

“Applications to both of these grants will open on May 31, and we encourage any community organisation with strong evidence of financial hardship to apply and any businesses seeking digital support.”

The Mayoral Minute also included the launch of a Rockhampton Community Connections Campaign where Council will work with other levels of government to implement a range of initiatives that help local organisations increase the number of volunteers, members and/or participants.
