CQ Home Assist is urgently looking for a range of contractors within Central Queensland to provide home maintenance services to their clients.

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said CQ Home Assist is an essential program that provides services, such as minor maintenance, for older people and people with disabilities who wish to remain living in their own homes.

“We are currently facing a shortage in contractors and are calling experienced contractors from across Central Queensland to take advantage of this opportunity,” Cr Wickerson said.

"There is a range of services and areas that need to be filled to ensure the future of the program.

“Without contractors, the program will be unable to deliver the range of services on offer, impacting a large part of the Central Queensland community.

“The shortage of contactors is due to Federal Government Aged Care mandates, coupled with what appears to be contractors themselves being short of workers and backlogs of material and supplies."

Roles and services to be filled include,

  • Trade contractors
  • Handymen
  • Carpenters
  • Cleaners
  • Locksmiths
  • Glaziers
  • Plumbers
  • Roller door Repairers
  • Tree loppers
  • Lawn mowing

If you provide any of the above services, email homeassist@rrc.qld.gov.au to apply and receive tender documents.

In line with Queensland Government requirements, workers are required to be fully vaccinated or have proof of medical exemption. Contractors will also need to supply a valid Criminal History Check.

CQ Home Assist is a program jointly funded by State and Federal Governments and delivered by Rockhampton Regional Council to the local government areas of Central Queensland.
