Advance Rockhampton have today launched their 2022 Mountain Biking campaign, ‘Ride Rocky. It’s Rad’, with a goal to promote the Rockhampton region as one of Australia’s top winter mountain biking destinations.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said Rockhampton is quickly becoming a popular mountain biking destination.

“Rockhampton is fortunate to be surrounded by the Berserker and Dee Ranges, providing us with fantastic nature based experiences for locals and visitors to enjoy, including access to two premier mountain bike parks,” Mayor Williams said.

“With over 50kms of trails across the First Turkey and Mount Morgan trail networks, 300 days of sunshine and a sub-tropical climate, Rockhampton is a destination of choice for mountain bike riders of all skill levels.

“This new campaign is really exciting and builds on the great work the Advance Rockhampton team are doing in putting Rockhampton at the forefront of visitor’s minds during the dreaming phase of their next mountain biking holiday.

“Now is the perfect time for locals to invite their friends and relatives to Rockhampton to experience the trails and all of the other great attractions, experiences and events our region has on offer”.

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Greg Bowden said Advance Rockhampton have identified a unique opportunity in increasing visitation within our region.

“According to AusCycling, mountain biking tourism is considered one of the fastest growing recreational activities, contributing $136.9 million to the Australian economy, per annum,” Mr Bowden said.

“With many southern states closing their trails during the colder months, there is a fantastic opportunity to put Rockhampton on the radar and attract these riders to Rocky over winter.

“And with an increase in flight routes and carriers into our region, travelling to Rockhampton with your mountain bike has never been easier.

“The ‘Ride Rocky. It’s Rad’ campaign will run for approximately three months and includes collaboration with ‘Flow Mountain Bike’, a multi-media publication with a reach of over 2.4 million nationally, who educate and inspire Australians by offering them the best information on mountain biking destinations.

“Our Advance Rockhampton team have created another great toolkit for local operators to download from the Advance Rockhampton website so they have everything they need to leverage this campaign over the coming months, from hero images, videos, social reels and campaign messaging.”

The Advance Rockhampton ‘Ride Rocky. It’s Rad’ campaign is running from April through to June, with the targeted travel period being July through to September.
