If you would like a plate of beef persuasion that combines a beefy cheek of flavour with a good rib then we suggest you MOOVE on into Rockhampton for the celebration of Wholly Cow Month.

Held in May, Wholly Cow month delivers world class local beef experiences and celebrates the tastes that our local beef producers and hospitality sector offers.

A range of signature events, boutique events and restaurant series featuring over 20 local restaurants are programed throughout the month to tantalise your taste buds.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow knows that Rockhampton offers a truly unique experience when it comes to beef and is excited to be able to share this experience.

“As the Beef Capital of Australia, we should celebrate our favourite protein in style, and Wholly Cow month allows us to do this,” Mayor Margaret Strelow said.

“Our Region’s beef is world class, exported right across the globe. You don’t need to travel overseas to experience great beef, it is here in the Centre of Queensland, right on the door step of Rockhampton.

“If beef is your world come to the beef capital for a day, a week or the entire month of May to indulge yourself in a variety of experiences such as fine dining, BBQ bonanza’s, cooking events or rustic street food, Wholly Cow Month will be an experience to savour.”

Wholly Cow Month features 6 signature events, 13 boutique events and 20 restaurant menus highlighting beef festivals, steak madness events inspired by American beef feasts, cooking demonstrations and classes, degustation menus, beef and beer pairings, beef breakfasts and so much more.

Regional Promotions Manager Sarah Reeves said the organising team has been working alongside local businesses to deliver an impressive schedule of events that features something for every lifestyle and budget.

“2017 Wholly Cow Months offers a range of different events to cater to every taste bud and desire,” she said.

“Our Signature Events feature ‘What’s your Beef’ with tasting plates prepared by pop up restaurants, an evening in the long room with a five course degustation, a secret Sunday Steak Madness Event where it is all kept a secret till the last minute, a BBQ Beef Festival headlining with the Brahman BBQ Battle, a culinary journey transforming a carcass into a multitude of dishes and a delightful Sunday lunch..

“’What’s Your Beef’, one of the main signature events, is set on the banks of the Fitzroy River and will feature a guest celebrity chef, masterclasses and pop up restaurants that serve a variety of gourmet beef tasting plates.

“Our Boutique events held at local restaurants and unusual locations around the region offer a more intimate culinary experience, devolving into each morsel and taste for a selected number of attendees.”
