Community Engagement & Education
Rockhampton Regional Council’s Disaster Management Unit can provide a range of engaging activities for students at your educational facility, or during events.
Our Community Education, Relief, and Recovery Trailer has been specifically built to be used in education and education initiatives, as well as during the relief and recovery phases following disaster events.
Along with the trailer, our Emergency Kit game and Jumbo RRC Disaster Management Snakes & Ladders game always prove to be a hit with students of any age, while our range of VR headsets are an exciting addition to our interactive education initiatives.
The RRC Disaster Management team work closely with a number of organisations including Queensland Fire & Emergency Services (QFES), State Emergency Service (SES), Queensland Police Service (QPS), Get Ready Queensland, and the Red Cross. These groups are able to provide additional disaster-related resources, and often accompany us to events and on educational visits.
Resources for Children
Rockhampton Regional Council has prepared a range of educational resources designed to help children learn about, and prepare for, emergencies and disasters that they may experience in the Rockhampton Region.
In the Be Disaster Ready Story Book and accompanying video, join Olivia and her friends as they learn about flooding, bushfires, heatwaves, pandemics and other disasters in the Region, and how they can stay safe by helping their family prepare a Household Emergency Plan, Emergency Kit and Evacuation Kit.
Play the Snakes and Ladders Game to make your way home to safety by avoiding flooded roads, broken power lines, and taking steps to prepare your home and pets during a disaster.
Play the Chatterbox to learn everything you need to know about keeping you and your family safe during a disaster.
