Council’s aim is to re-unite as many lost pets with their owners as possible.
You can help by ensuring that your pet is microchipped, and if your pet is a dog, registered as well. Make sure you keep your contact details up to date with Council and microchip registry.
If your pet is found wandering and has identification and has not wandered before, a Local Laws Officer will try to contact you to return your pet immediately while still in field. If you cannot be contacted or if you are not immediately available to meet the Officer to receive your pet, then the animal will be taken to the Animal Management Centre.
Hearing that your pet has been impounded may be upsetting. Understanding this, Council will assist wherever possible so your pet can be re-united with your family.
