He wears a cape, he fights crime, he has a red beak…it’s Laser Beak Man, super hero!
This summer, the place to be is the Rockhampton Art Gallery for the exhibition Laser Beak Man: the Adventures of.
In one of the largest exhibition ever presented about the super hero, Laser Beak Man: the Adventures of is an exhibition for the whole family, full of laughs, fun, and maybe a few tears.
With his trademark cheeky sense of humour, Laser Beak Man lives in Power City, the most beautiful city in the world – and he wants it to stay that way! He is the creation of Tim Sharp, an artist with autism
Thanks to Laser Beak Man, Tim is now an internationally acclaimed artist. But he is also well known for the hope and inspiration he brings to so many people from around the world.
Tim was diagnosed with autism when he was three years old. Such were his enormous difficulties that the doctor's advice was "that the best thing to do was put him away and forget about him." Rejecting the prognosis, his mother began intensive therapy and bravely Tim tried to overcome what was so terrifying and difficult for him.
Tim created Laser Beak Man at the age of 11 as a way to help him communicate with others. Laser Beak Man has been made into an animated TV series, and adapted into a Helpmann Award-nominated play.
Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council’s Community Services Committee Cr Rose Swadling said that the exhibition was a wonderful opportunity to see the colourful artwork of Tim Sharp and to experience his story.
This is a great exhibition to experience because audiences can immerse themselves in the world of Laser Beak Man and they can also see the artwork of this talented young man who has overcome incredible odds.
“This exhibition is a story of acceptance and inclusion,” she said.
Laser Beak Man will be on display at Rockhampton Art Gallery from 15 December to 17 February. Entry is $10 for adults, concessions $6.Free entry Infants (2yrs and under)
