Legendary Aussie rockers Dragon will headline Saturday night’s entertainment at Rare Spares Rockynats 2023.

Known for their hits across the decades, including April Sun in Cuba and Are You Old Enough?, Dragon split up in 1997 and reformed in 2006 with a new line-up.

2023 marks 50 years of Dragon, and they are gearing up to take the Rockynats audience on a musical journey through the very best of their tracks. Starting as a cover band in a small town in New Zealand, Dragon rose to stardom, with Australia boasting one of their most loyal fan bases. They regularly featured on the popular TV program Countdown and released multiple top 10 songs. Audiences can expect to hear other favourites such as Rain, Still in Love and Get That Jive.

Mayor Tony Williams says Dragon is a perfect way to cap off a jam-packed Saturday program at Rockynats.

“Rockynats is all about celebrating classics - from cars to music. Rockhampton has changed a lot in 50 years, and so has Dragon. Audiences will enjoy the chance to reminisce with iconic songs that marked seasons in their life.”

“After a big day of motorsports, Dragon will give everyone a reason to stay and take in the evening entertainment at Rockynats. If you can only be at Rockynats for one day, make it Saturday,” says Mayor Williams.

Rockynats visitors and entrants will have the chance to wind down with dinner and an open bar at the Autobarn Showgrounds Precinct. Supporting bands PistonFist and Zac Cross Band will open the evening from 6pm, with Dragon taking the stage from 8pm to 9pm.

With more precincts, events and off-track entertainment than ever before, Rockynats has something for everyone this April. Kids and parents alike will love the adrenaline of this year’s Hot Wheels show, FMX Kaos, Tony Champion’s Mack Truck display, or pro wrestling with Wrestling Allegiance Rockhampton. To balance out the excitement, entrants can pull up a car or camp chair to enjoy a classic drive-in cinema sponsored by Total Tools.

Taking to the sky will be the Helifish CQ Helicopter Joy Flights during the day, and fireworks on Saturday and Sunday in the evening. The much-loved RockabillyNats Pinup Pageant will be showcasing a range of glamorous looks, with Mulletfest bringing some flair and style of a different kind. All this happens to the sound of live music at multiple locations.

All Rockynats tickets for Saturday include entry to the evening concert featuring Dragon. Tickets are selling fast, with Platinum passes already sold out. Prices start at $35 for Saturday-only admission, with concession and youth prices available.
