As part of an ongoing review into Local Laws, Rockhampton Regional Council is opening public consultation on the next section for review – Gates and Grids.

With around 300 gates and grids around the region, CEO Evan Pardon said it was an important issue for rural communities.

“We’ve been reviewing our Local Laws for a number of months now and working our way through them with our Gates and Grids Local Law now open for public feedback,” Mr Pardon said.

“We’ve set up a page on Council’s website which has a link to the current local law as well as a fillable form to record people’s feedback.

“Consultation will be open for 6 week period commencing 22 October 2018 and ending 30 November 2018. Council will also be writing to all landholders we know of with gates and grids on their property asking them to have their say.

“From there, the process will be to collate that feedback and present a draft local law back to the community for further comment before it goes to a Council meeting for adoption.

“Comments received will also be considered in the development of supporting policies and procedures, ” Mr Pardon said.

Council is seeking feedback from the community on the draft proposed Subordinate Local Law No. 1.17 (Gates and Grids) 2017.
