Applications for Council’s Community Assistance Program (CAP) close on Monday, so don’t miss out on your chance to apply!
Communities Councillor Drew Wickerson said this program funds initiatives, activities and programs that benefit our community.
“This is an absolutely fantastic funding program that really puts our community first,” Councillor Wickerson said.
“It’s a very popular program, however we’re in a bit of an unusual situation this year.
“Normally by this time in the financial year we’re getting to the end of the funding available and having to make some pretty tough decisions.
“However, a combination of factors – including fewer events and some funding that has been carried over – means that this year we have money left in the pool.
“This funding has been set aside for improving our community facilities and enhancing our social fabric, and we know there are some wonderful projects out there that can make great use of it.
“If there’s an event, initiative or upgrade your organisation has been considering, now’s the time to get your application in!”
Brothers Kangaroos AFC was recently able to add spectator seating at Kele Park thanks to funding received through the Community Assistance Program.
Club Secretary Rachele Belz said the funding program provides some great opportunities.
“These small projects make a big difference to community clubs,” said Ms Belz.
“It would take a lot of sausages and a lot of volunteer hours to raise the same amount of funds.
“It’s a straightforward and painless application process, so if your club has a project in mind there’s really no reason not to apply.”
Water and Supporting a Better Environment Councillor Donna Kirkland reminded residents there is also a dedicated Environment and Sustainability Scheme as part of the Community Assistance Program.
“The Environment and Sustainability Scheme is designed to support projects that protect, maintain, and enhance our natural environment while strengthening our community’s capacity to live sustainably,” Councillor Kirkland said.
“This funding can support a wide variety of activities including community education; on-ground works; targeted energy, waste and water improvements; or even a school sustainability project.
“If your school or organisation has a great project that puts passion for the environment into action, send in your application today!”
Applications for round three of the 2020/21 Community Assistance Program close Monday 12 April.
