Making bug habitats

Are you raising a nature enthusiast? Come along to our free range of sustainability workshops these September school holidays to learn more about bringing nature back to your own backyard!

Council’s Environment Spokesperson Councillor Drew Wickerson said that the workshops are a great opportunity for kids and their parents to learn some fun and practical ways to live more sustainably.

“These free workshops give kids a chance to discover more about their environment and learn fun, positive ways to live more sustainably – from creating bug hotels and frog friendly yards to making some nature inspired arts and crafts,” said Cr Wickerson.

“Of course, parents can also learn a lot from these great workshops.

“Sustainable living simply comes down to the daily habits we have and the choices we make.

“The holidays offer a perfect opportunity to take some time to reflect on how we’re living, and make a commitment to more sustainable choices.

“Through these workshops you can learn some great new skills, including how to make beeswax wraps as well attract native bees and butterflies to your garden.

“So, bring your family down for a great school holiday activity, and to learn more about living sustainably together!”

The workshops are free, but bookings are essential, so call 4936 8043 or email libraries@rrc.qld.gov.au to reserve your spot.
