Kick start a career in the Resource & Civil Construction Industries

Following a hugely successful event in 2020, Advance Rockhampton is pleased to host the Resource, Civil Construction, Engineering and Renewables Expo for 2021.
The Rockhampton Region is brimming with major projects and Advance Rockhampton is teaming up with major players in the resource, civil construction, engineering and renewables industries to ensure local workers are best placed to take advantage of the opportunities on offer.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said the focused industries continue to experience rapid growth, and this event is a great opportunity to emphasise employment and career opportunities within these sectors.
“The vast number of projects has created many jobs for the Region, but skill shortages in these industries still exist,” Mayor Williams said.
“We are expecting over 30 exhibitors to attend and appreciate the support from major advocates such as Bravus Mining and Resources, Laing O’Rourke, QMAG and Hastings Deering who are exhibiting on the day.
“The career expo is a great opportunity for school and university students, job seekers and those looking to career pivot. The industries represented have a significant presence as employers in our region. This is a chance for those seeking employment in those sectors to speak to industry leaders and gain insight into what they need to do to be successful in the their chosen field.”
Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Greg Bowden said Council’s Economic Development team is excited and ready to support and collaborate local students and job seekers to learn more about the opportunities available to them.
“The Advance Rockhampton Career Expo’s prior success has been a result of terrific collaboration by the Rockhampton business community, students and job seekers”, Mr Bowden said.
“The expo is not just an opportunity for those seeking employment in the industry to connect with employers. It also provides an opportunity for businesses to show their commitment to employing locally in the Rockhampton region and highlights the benefits of living and working in regional Queensland.”
The Careers Expo will be held at The Rockhampton Showgrounds in the Robert Schwarten Pavilion on Wednesday 27 October 2021 from 9am until 3pm. The expo will offer school leavers, job seekers and those seeking a career pivot the opportunity to connect with major contractors in the Region. Attendees can pre-register, or simply attend the venue on the day.
