Residents across the region will soon be able to visit Gracemere to loop their way around one of Queensland’s largest pump tracks, thanks to a new project from Rockhampton Regional Council.

The track, which will be more than 550 metres long, will be situated in Cedric Archer Park and is funded through the Palaszczuk Government’s Works for Queensland program.

Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the Government was proud to be funding yet another project in the Rockhampton region.

“This $500,000 track is going to add yet another amazing feature to Gracemere’s Cedric Archer Park that, thanks to its world-class water play area and stunning lagoon, is fast becoming a recreational highlight of this region,” he said.

“The pump track will be a continuous loop providing hours of fun whether you’re on a BMX, a scooter or a skateboard.

“I am delighted that we have been able to provide Rockhampton Regional Council with more than $27.2 million for infrastructure projects through our Works for Queensland program.

“These projects have created or supported almost 650 jobs, which means security for families and opportunity for those looking for employment.”

Rockhampton Region Acting Mayor Cherie Rutherford said the design had been finalised and would be going out to tender soon.

“It’s great to see yet another Works for Queensland funded project bringing such a benefit to our region and we very much appreciate the State Government’s investment.

“This new pump track will be fantastic for families living in Gracemere, as well as an exciting addition to our region as a whole.

“It will be the perfect venue for kids to get outside, explore, and try something new.”

Divisional Councillor Ellen Smith said this project will contribute to Gracemere’s reputation not only as a great place to live, but also a great place to visit.

“Cedric Archer Park truly is becoming one of the go to places for residents and visitors alike, and this track will provide yet another reason to come and enjoy the area.”

The project will go out to tender this month. Construction is set to begin in February 2020 and the new track is due to open in winter next year.
