The Pilbeam Theatre’s Morning Melodies 2023 season kicks off in February with an hilarious performance by David Scheel, internationally regarded as one of the finest solo musical / comedy performers in the world.

His show, Don’t Shoot Me, I’m only the Piano Player, not only highlights his musicianship but also his ability to send up the ridiculous, for which he has become well known.

The Adelaide-born entertainer tasted his first international success on London’s West End in the satirical show News Revue, but it wasn’t long before he became a regular on British TV and radio.

In Don’t Shoot Me, I’m only the Piano Player audience members can expect to hear anything from a well-known folk tune played in the styles of various famous composers, two different pieces played with different hands at the same time, and a medley of the 20 worst tunes ever written.

David’s raconteur-style send ups of the ridiculous include true stories of bad pianos he's had to play, sharp-edged commentary on the lives of assorted celebrities, and equally topical digs at politicians. His hilarious translation of the lyrics of Waltzing Matilda is already an established comedy classic, and it's set to be joined by his latest offering: Everything You Need to Know to Survive a Pandemic.

David Scheel will perform Don’t Shoot Me I’m only the Piano Player at Morning Melodies at the Pilbeam Theatre on Monday 20 February at 11am. Tickets are on sale now at $20 for adults with concessions and group discounts available, from the Pilbeam Theatre Box Office or www.seeitlive.com.au

A free morning tea, provided by Brumby’s Allenstown / Gracemere / Parkhurst, will be provided from 10am.
