No. 7 Dam

The Number 7 Dam (otherwise known as The Big Dam) provides a perfect spot for many recreational activities and is a favourite with Mount Morgan locals. With its picturesque natural views, the Dam offers a tranquil place for a get together, with barbeque and picnic areas available. The area is also home to the town's largest shaded covered playground - including 11 different types of playground equipment, outdoor gym equipment, picnic tables, barbecues, walking tracks and plenty of parking.

Playground
The large, shaded playground at No. 7 Dam features a range of equipment, with something for everyone. The fenced playground ensures that you can enjoy watching your littlies play with peace of mind.

Mountain Biking
The Mount Morgan Mountain bike trail network consists of 25kms of trails through Mount Morgan's recreation and water reserve area, the No.7 Dam. The trails consist of green level trails, offering less challenging rides, through to blue level trails, offering more remote, steeper and rockier terrain for the more adventurous rider.

Walking Trails
The Gangulu Trails are found around Mount Morgan's No 7 Dam and are made up of 20+kms of dual walking and mountain biking trails. Take your time checking out these rugged trails while keeping an eye out for the bikes then head into town for a delicious country pub meal and lay down the picnic blanket under the shade trees at Mount Morgan's No 7 Dam Recreational Area.

Move your body on the outdoor gym equipment with the tranquil outlook of the No 7 Dam.

Dog Off-Leash Area
No. 7 Dam is home to a dog off-leash area, ensuring that your canine companion can enjoy the great outdoors safely and responsibly.

No.7 Dam is open to the public, and admission is free.

Transport and Parking

Getting here

A 40.5km drive from the Rockhampton CBD. Only a 2km distance from the centre of Mount Morgan. When coming from the North, turn left off the main highway (prior to Carmody Bridge) and follow along the Dee River.

Free car parking is available.
