Roadworks are about to begin at the intersection of Norman Road and Foulkes Street, Norman Gardens. The works to be undertaken will include widening the intersection, kerb and channel installation, traffic light installation, street lighting upgrades, and the entrance for the proposed Rockhampton Sports Precinct.
Announcement: The works will be carried out over three stages, with dates subject to change:
Stage one – September 2026 until February 2027: Works on the western (CQU side of Norman Road.
Norman Road and Foulkes Street will be open, with speed reduced to 40km/h.
Stage two – February 2027 until June 2027: Works on the eastern side of Norman Road. Norman
Road will remain open with speed reduced to 40km/h, with the Foulkes St intersection closed. A detour
will be in place via Springfield Drive and Nagle Drive.
Stage three – June 2027 until August 2027: Works in the centre median. The inbound lane of Norman
Road will be closed at the Yeppoon Road intersection with a detour in place via Yaamba Road and River
Rose Drive. Foulkes Street intersection will remain closed.
