Speak for yourself - Communication and public speaking workshop
Next date: Saturday, 14 March 2026 | 10:00 AM
to 04:00 PM
Begin the new year speaking with impact with a weekend intensive that transforms how you communicate, present and lead. In just two Saturdays, you'll deliver four speeches and join Toastmasters with momentum, confidence and immediate capability.
- 14 & 28 March 2026 | 10.00am - 4.00pm
- Athelstane Bowls Club, Rockhampton
- $390pp (includes 6 months Toastmasters club membership valued at $160 for new members)
Leave these behind in 2025
- Hesitation before speaking up in meetings - Complete four speeches in two weekends and walk into 2026 ready to contribute your ideas clearly and confidently.
- Anxiety about upcoming presentations - Master the fundamentals of speech organisation, delivery and audience connection before the year's important moments arrive.
- Missed opportunities to influence - Develop the communication capability that lets you persuade, inspire and lead effectively throughout 2026.
- Procrastination about skill development - Stop planning to improve "someday" and start the year with concrete progress already achieved.
What you'll achieve over two Saturdays
Speech 1: Introducing yourself (Ice Breaker)
Craft a compelling introduction that establishes your presence and credibility.
Speech 2: Making your point
Articulate ideas that matter to you with clarity and conviction.
Speech 3: Explaining with support
Master visual aids and supporting materials that make complex ideas accessible.
Speech 4: Enhancing your delivery
Polish vocabulary, expression and vocal variety to elevate every word you speak.
Between prepared speeches, you'll develop impromptu speaking capability, responding to unexpected questions with confidence rather than panic.
Why this intensive works
Learn with your cohort
Ten or more people start their Toastmasters journey together. All participants prepare and present two speeches each Saturday, exposing you to broader variety than standard club meetings. You'll see different approaches to similar challenges, discover techniques you can adapt, and build connections with other professionals.
Guidance when building foundations
Our experienced Toastmasters members provide focused mentoring during your speeches. You'll receive support with controlling your fear, creating introductions that capture attention, impromptu speaking without panic, organising ideas for maximum impact, beginning speeches that engage immediately, matching your message to your audience, using gestures and vocal variety effectively, concluding with clarity and confidence, and giving feedback that helps others improve.
Comprehensive feedback
You'll receive both verbal and written feedback using the evaluation guides used in Toastmasters clubs worldwide. For each speech, you'll receive written evaluation you can reference as you progress. Initially experienced members provide evaluations, but gradually you and your peers will take over as you develop feedback skills. You'll also access self-assessment surveys to monitor your development.
Six months club membership included
After the intensive, continue developing at one of three local Toastmasters clubs if you choose. Your foundation is established, now you'll refine and expand at your own pace.
Join a club or stand alone
After completing your four foundation speeches, you can transition to fortnightly club meetings with immediate capability. You'll understand meeting structure, evaluation processes and materials. Your foundation speeches are already complete, so you can progress to more advanced projects while other new members work towards their first speeches. You'll already know other members who completed the intensive with you, making regular meetings immediately comfortable.
Or simply take your new capabilities back to your workplace and life without ongoing club commitment. The choice is yours.
