TAG Rocky Region

The Adaption Game

TAG – The Adaptation Game – is a non-competitive, table-top board game designed to build personal and community resilience. TAG uses locally tailored scenarios and maps to immerse participants in a fictional experience of ‘living through’ disaster events.

This engaging, place-based approach enables players to explore practical and actionable strategies for disaster preparedness and climate adaptation. TAG helps strengthen participants’ knowledge, agency and connections by sparking meaningful conversations and open discussion.

TAG has been delivered in over 30 local government areas across Australia, New Zealand and Canada. TAG made its' Queensland debut at the TAG: Rocky Region pilot workshops held in September 2025, thanks to a Community Led Climate Solutions grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).

Council is delivering this initiative as part of its Climate Resilient Rockhampton Regional (CRRR) program.

Why play TAG?

TAG is more than just a board game. It is an interactive resilience-based tool that:

  • provides insights into local risks
  • encourages discussion around effective responses and
  • supports participants to identify practical steps they can take to be more prepared for disaster and climate impacts.
