Fireworks display on the Fitzroy River

Rockhampton is set to farewell 2025 and welcome 2026 in dazzling fashion with the New Year’s Eve fireworks spectacular.

This year’s event will feature two spectacular fireworks displays to suit all ages.

The first is a family-friendly show at 7:30pm, offering a vibrant and early celebration for those with little ones.

Then at midnight the sky will ignite once again with a breathtaking finale to officially welcome 2026.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and settle in along the beautiful Rockhampton riverfront for a great evening under the stars.

A selection of pop-up food trucks will be set up along Quay Street 4:30pm – 8pm.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said it’s the perfect way to wrap up the year with loved ones.

“New Year’s Eve is a wonderful opportunity for friends, families, visitors and the wider community to come together and celebrate the start of an exciting new year.

“Whether you’re sharing a riverside picnic, grabbing a bite from a local pub, or simply soaking up the festive atmosphere, it’s a great night to enjoy.

Mark your calendar for December 31, 2025, and get ready to light up the night as Rockhampton rings in the new year.

Keep pets safe during fireworks

Safeguard your furry friends during fireworks by bringing them indoors or to a secure area within your property where they feel at ease. Take the time now to inspect your fence, gates, doors, and windows to prevent any chance of your pet escaping.

For added security, please ensure your pet is wearing a collar with proper identification/registration and is microchipped so that your lost pet can be reunited with you. In case your pet goes missing, contact Council by calling 4932 9000 or visit www.rrc.qld.gov.au/lostpets.
