Time for local authors to shine
Published on 09 May 2016
Are you a budding writer, poet, songwriter or editor?
Now is your chance to get involved with Rockhampton Regional Library’s Local Author Expo on Saturday 18 June.
Council’s Community Services Committee Chair Council Rose Swadling said Council was encouraging local authors from across the Region to showcase their works.
“Our Local Author Expos are always very popular and it’s an excellent opportunity for our talented, creative and home-grown writers, poets or songwriters to showcase their past or current works,” Cr Swadling said.
“We’d love to see a whole range of works and genres from horror to history, fact and fiction, teenage dramas to comedies – it’s all about helping our local writers share their tales and inspirational stories with the broader community.
“Authors will have the chance to meet and mingle, talk about their works, their life and their writing experiences, and Expo goers have the chance to snap up a signed book if they wish.
“Authors and community members alike certainly come away feeling energised!”
Writers can showcase their works from different genres including children’s literature, non-fiction, steampunk, teen fiction, history, horror, short stories, fantasy fiction, biography and poetry.
The Local Author Expo provides an opportunity for community members to meet with our Region’s local writers, poets, songwriters and editors, and is an ideal afternoon for anyone who loves reading or books.
