The Northside Library reopens after some refurbishments

After closing down temporarily in recent weeks, the Northside Library has now reopened with a fresh, new-look Customer Service area.
Councillor for Communities and Heritage Drew Wickerson says he is grateful to the community and library members for their patience, while these works were carried out.
“The Northside Library is central to schools and childcare centres and visited by people of all ages so we would like to thank everyone, particularly as the works needed to be carried out over the school holidays,” Cr Wickerson said.
“With safety in the front of mind, we also had to close down access to the afterhours return chute, so we appreciate the extra effort our members took to return items to other locations.
“The library hosts a wide range of resources to suit its diverse clientele, so if you live on the north side or perhaps you travel along Berserker Street as part of your commute, why not pop in and see what they have to offer.
“The refurbishments are designed to provide our customers, with a greater variety of public spaces and more streamlined technology access.
“The installation of a new desk has improved staff and customer access, while a small internal wall has been removed to open up further public access close to the customer service desk.
“The creation of a larger lounge area has also increased browsing opportunities in a more welcoming and accessible way.
“In November this year, the library will celebrate its 50th anniversary and what better way celebrate the milestone, than with a mini makeover.”
