From 17 to 22 March, a section of the Rockhampton Zoo and Botanic Gardens will be temporarily closed to traffic while crews paint a mural on the road as part of the Visitor Hub project.

During this time:

  • Ann Street (the road within the Zoo) will be closed to traffic from the Ann/Spencer Street roundabout to the tearooms.
  • Parking will be limited.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained, with signs and traffic controllers in place to guide visitors.

The gardens, tearooms and zoo will remain open during this time. Pedestrians can also access the gardens via the Japanese Gardens entrance on Phyllis Street.

This artwork, developed in collaboration with Darumbal, features elements like the lagoon, water lilies, and footprints to enhance the shared zone, guide traffic and pedestrians, and complement the natural surroundings. It will be applied using a durable road-marking product designed to withstand traffic and weather conditions.

Please note, these works are subject to weather conditions.
