Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur will be in Rockhampton this week to help Rocky’s small businesses build relationships. Council will welcome former Rocky student and Shark Tank star, Steve Baxter, as the special guest at this month’s Smart Hub event.

Mayor Margaret Strelow said Steve’s success is an example of the incredible entrepreneurs and businesses our Region produces.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Steve – a Regional Queensland born and raised entrepreneur – back to Rockhampton. He is here for our Smart Hub event this week to help guide budding entrepreneurs and existing small business owners through their journey,” Mayor Strelow said.

“As our economy transitions and technology changes the way we work, it is critical that we position ourselves to be a part of this growing sector in order to create local jobs, grow private sector investment and drive economic growth.

“While there’s still a lot of work to be done, we are seeing green shoots in the sector and the enthusiasm being displayed by our Smart Hub participants is spreading to the rest of our business community.

“Embracing this growing industry wholeheartedly will allow us to continue to service our region and remain the service centre of choice for Central Queensland,” Mayor Strelow said.

Rockhampton Regional Council would like to thank our co-sponsors, Advance Queensland and Startup Capricorn, for their support.
