Southside Pool update

Swimmers at the Southside Pool may notice some increased activity over the next week as Council and BlueFit work together to resolve issues around water cloudiness.
Rockhampton Regional Council Acting General Manager Community Services Mr Doug Scott said pool users may have noticed the pool water hasn’t been as clear as usual at various times over the last few weeks.
“We want to assure everybody the pool is absolutely safe to swim in,” Mr Scott said.
“While we try to identify what’s causing the water to be cloudy, we’re testing it multiple times a day and are confident in the quality of the water. It’s just the aesthetic clarity issues we’re trying to resolve.
“We’ve already ruled out a lot of potential causes, and we’ll be working with BlueFit to undertake some more intensive testing this week.
“During this time, users of the pool might notice Council workers and contractors on site as well as some additional pumping infrastructure.
“There will also be some intermittent periods over the next week where the facility will have to be closed for a short time as we test the pool and pumping system, however we’ll keep the community updated on Council's Facebook page.”
