Shade for Spring

Kershaw Gardens will see the installation of a new shade sail over the adventure playground equipment in time for the warmer weather.

Parks Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford said Council is undertaking the installation of the new shade sail from 15 August and it is expected to be completed by mid-September.

“The community will still be able to use the area during this time with only minor disruptions to the operation of the playground," Cr Rutherford said.

“The new shade sail over the adventure playground will be a great addition to the park, keeping the community cool especially during hotter parts of the year.

“The shade will allow for extra sun protection for families and children utilising this much-loved area of the park.

“To ensure the safety of those accessing the playground during the works, small sections around the playground will be fenced off.

“I am looking forward to seeing the project completed and families continue to access this great facility.

“The project has been solely funded by the Rockhampton Regional Council and will be undertaken by Council.”
