Interested in finding out more about your local SES? This month Open Days are being held at the three SES buildings across the Region, so head along to learn more.

Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) Mayor Tony Williams said Council was proud to support these community events.

“SES Open Days are a great chance to meet and thank our fantastic local members, take a look at the equipment they use, and even find out about volunteering yourself,” Mayor Williams said.

“Council’s Disaster Management team will also be hosting some preparedness workshops. Not only are these a great opportunity to find out about preparing your own household for a disaster, if you attend a workshop you’ll also head home with your very own Emergency Kit valued at around $70.”

Local SES Controller Eddie Cowie said he was looking forward to the events.

“We try to hold an Open Day every year and they’re always so well received by the community,” Mr Cowie said.

“Of course, we weren’t able to host these events last year so we’re so excited to open the buildings up to the community again this year.

“People get a real kick out of having a look around and hearing about the work we do, and our volunteers love the chance to share their passion.”
