The Rockhampton region has been featured in Australia’s leading business events publication, Spice Magazine, highlighting the region as a destination of choice for future business events.

The feature follows Advance Rockhampton’s Business Events three-day famil in June, supported by Tourism Australia’s Business Events Boost Program, that saw seven national Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs) and event managers tour the region’s diverse event spaces and hero experiences.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said it’s fantastic to see our region promoted far and wide as an emerging business events destination.

“Rockhampton has a great range of unique conference facilities, authentic experiences, attractions and award-winning accommodation, making it the perfect destination for business events,” Mayor Williams said.

“With growing interest in our region to host more major events, it’s great to see Rockhampton supported by Tourism Australia and showcased in such high profile publications like Spice Magazine.

“The majority of delegates at our June famil were visiting Rockhampton for the first time, and it was wonderful to see them excited about the fantastic facilities and opportunities our region has available for both small and large business events.”

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Greg Bowden said the Rockhampton Business Events famil aligns with Advance Rockhampton’s overarching economic development strategy in putting Rocky on the radar.

“Activities like these famils provide a great opportunity to attract national PCOs and Event Managers to tour our region and promote the Rockhampton region as a destination of choice for business events,” Mr Bowden said.

“Leads following the June famil are estimated to reach over $800,000, with event organisers and delegates travelling from out of region spending money on venues, food and beverage, accommodation and travel.

“The success of the first Business Events famil has led to the team securing further support from Tourism Australia in their 2021/22 Business Events Boost Program.”

Famil delegate and Spectacular Events Director Zoe Sparks said it has been a long time since visiting Rockhampton and was really impressed with what is now on offer.

“It has been almost 20 years since I last visited Rockhampton and the city I knew has now modernised and is filled with culture, activities and experiences,” Mrs Sparks said.

“Rockhampton has great conference facilities and complementing food and destination experiences, all things my clients are interested in.

“The famil exceed my expectations and I’d be happy to recommend Rockhampton as a destination to my conference and group clients.”

Spice Magazine has a readership of over 27,000 across its website, print and digital magazine and is the go to news source for the business events industry, covering everything from destination profiles to inspiring trends.
