Christmas Closure Times

As the year draws to a close Rockhampton Regional Council extends warm wishes for a joyous and festive holiday season to the residents of the Rockhampton Region.

While majority of our offices and services will be closed from close of business 22 December 2023 and opening again on Tuesday 2 January 2024, some of our teams will still be working hard throughout the holiday period.

The Zoo will continue to welcome visitors every day apart from Christmas itself, and our dedicated team in waste and recycling will still be collecting from the kerbside as normal.  

Council will resume normal services from Tuesday 2 January 2023.

Christmas and New Year opening hours and closures

Rockhampton Regional Libraries

  • All libraries close 3pm Friday, 22 December and reopening Tuesday, 2 January. Mount Morgan Library will reopen 3 January.

History Centre

  • Closed from 3pm Friday, 22 December and reopening Tuesday, 2 January.

Customer Service

  • In Person - Closed from 3pm Friday, 22 December and reopening Tuesday, 2 January.
  • Call Centre – operating 24hr for emergency requests and enquiries  

Animal Management Centre

  • Friday 22 December – Closed from 3pm
  • Saturday 23 December – Open 7am to 10am
  • Sunday 24 December – CLOSED
  • Monday 25 December – CLOSED
  • Tuesday 26 December – CLOSED
  • Wednesday 27 December – Open 7am – 4.30pm
  • Thursday 28 December – Open 7am – 4.30pm
  • Friday 29 December – Open 7am – 4.30pm

Rockhampton Zoo

  • Open as normal apart from being closed on Christmas Day

Airport

  • The airport will operate as normal.

Waste Management Facilities and Collection

  • All manned waste facilities will be closed on Christmas Day but open as per normal at all other times. Waste and Recycling Collection will operate as per normal. 

Pilbeam Theatre Box Office

  • The Pilbeam Theatre Box Office will be closed from 4.30pm 22 December and will reopen on Monday, 8 January.

Heritage Village

  • Closed from 3pm Friday, 22 December and reopening Tuesday, 2 January.

City Child Care Centre

  • Closed from 5.45pm Friday, 22 December and reopening Tuesday, 8 January. 

Central Queensland Home Assist

  • Closed from 3pm Friday, 22 December and reopening Tuesday, 2 January.

Major Venues & Showgrounds

  • Closed from 5.00pm Friday, 22 December and reopening Tuesday, 2 January.

Rockhampton Museum of Art

  • Closed 24 to 26 December 2023 and 1 January 2024. Outside these dates it will continue to operate as normal.
