The Rockhampton Zoo is the place to be these school holidays with the launch of yet another animal encounter, and this time it’s in the form of slithery snakes.

Parks, Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford said this took the Zoo’s offerings up to three animal encounters, with meerkat and otter encounters plus a Junior Zookeeper Program and free daily educational talks.

“The Rockhampton Zoo just keeps getting better and we’re so excited to now bring weekend snake encounters into the mix of what was already an impressive line-up,” Cr Rutherford said.

“For only $18, snake encounters give participants the opportunity to hold one of our native pythons, learn all about their quirky natures and understand why they are an important part of our natural environment.

“Participants can also get their photos taken by accompanying family and friends, so be sure to bring your devices down charged and ready to go.

“Tickets are available for purchase now through the Rockhampton Zoo website with bookings available every Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am.

“If snakes aren’t your thing, you can still book otter encounters with Tomio and Misumi, get up close and personal with our cheeky meerkat mob, or attend our free daily educational talks.

“There really is something for everybody at the Rockhampton Zoo these school holidays and we can’t wait for you to visit!”

The Rockhampton Zoo is open seven days a week (including all public holidays apart from Christmas Day and Anzac Day) from 9am – 4.15pm. Entry is free.

Tickets for animal encounters and experiences can be purchased online at www.rockhamptonzoo.com.au with 15% of all ticket sales supporting animal conservation.
