Packed Program for Small Landholders’ Day

Published on 28 September 2018

Rockhampton Regional Council has released a jam packed program for the upcoming Small Landholders’ Day.

The event, which is supported by the Fitzroy Basin Association, takes place next week on Saturday 6 October.

Chair of Council’s Planning and Regulatory Committee, Councillor Ellen Smith, said the event would feature practical agricultural industry training sessions, interactive activities, and trade displays from a wide range of stallholders.

“This event gives all the small landholders across our region a chance to talk with experts and representatives from both industry and government about all things agricultural.

“There will be more than 25 individual sessions revolving around general farming, conservation and environment, raising livestock, and biosecurity and pest management,” Cr Smith said.

“Some of the organisations that will be there include the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, CQ Organics, Horse Utopia – Perfect Pastures, Ecosure, Rural Minds and Native Plants Capricornia.

“Over 750 people attended in 2017 and we are expecting even more this year. Entry is free so come along to the Showgrounds and make sure you don’t miss out.”

Council’s Pest Management team with support from Fitzroy Basin Association will be hosting the 2018 Small Landholders Day on Saturday 6 October.

The event will feature practical agricultural industry training sessions, interactive activities and trade displays from a wide range of stallholders.
