Grab your BMX bike, scooter, or skateboard and head along to Rigarlsford Park this Saturday afternoon to check out Council’s new mobile funbox!

The funbox, which was requested and championed by Councillor Tony Williams and Councillor Neil Fisher, is completely mobile and will be located at Rigarlsford Park for the next three months before moving to another location.

Councillor Tony Williams said that he is looking forward to seeing the community come out to enjoy the new skate facility.

“The mobile funbox will be set up on the basketball court at Rigarlsford Park from this Saturday afternoon, and everyone is invited to come along and check it out,” said Councillor Williams.

“Council will also be organising an outdoor screening of Toy Story 4 from 6.30pm as part of the broader Moonlight Movies program.

“I definitely recommend families bring along a picnic blanket and stay for the screening, there are few things nicer on a summer night than catching a film under the stars.”

Councillor Neil Fisher said the mobile funbox will be a great addition to the Region.

“We’ll be moving this mobile funbox to a new location on the every few months this year,” said Cr Fisher.

“The portable nature of the funbox means that more kids will get the chance to enjoy a great skate facility in their own neighbourhood.

“We’ll also be able to roll it out at a range of events across the Region, which will add a great new element to community celebrations.

“The design of the funbox means that it is a great option for beginners and young skaters looking to build their skills and confidence.

“We do want to encourage everyone to stay safe while using this facility. Please make sure to wear a helmet and protective skate gear, and remember to stay hydrated!”
