The Pilbeam Theatre’s popular Morning Melodies concert series kicks off in February With Dustier Than Ever – A Show In Honour of Slim.

Performed by Chris Cook and The Chris Cook Band, this show traces the history of Slim Dusty’s progression from his early days at Nulla Creek through to his recognition as an international entertainer.

It showcases a selection of Slim’s songs, interspersed with some of Chris’s memories from his years of friendship with Slim.

Chris wrote three songs for Slim Dusty – When the Country’s Wet, Diggin’ a Hole in my Guitar and Rollin’ down the Road. Slim has been a big and very important influence in Chris’s music.

The lineup includes Chris playing an energetic country guitar, skillful and toe-tapping fiddle and highly polished bluegrass / hillbilly banjo, along with Rob Renfrew on double bass and James Cantwell on drums and percussion.

The show is approved and endorsed by Joy McKean and the Slim Dusty Foundation in Kempsey.

Morning Melodies is presented by Rockhampton Regional Council and Bolsover Radiology.

Dustier Than Ever – A Show In Honour of Slim will be performed at Morning Melodies at the Pilbeam Theatre on Monday 8 February at 11am.

Patrons are advised that for this Morning Melodies performance, the venue is unable to offer the usual morning tea. However tea and coffee will be available.
