Rockhampton’s largest running event is set to take place on Sunday, 17 May, 2026, promising participants a chance to compete for over $4,000 in cash and prizes across the half marathon, 10km, 5km races and a 2km fun run.
Rockhampton Region Mayor, Councillor Tony Williams highlighted the Rocky River Run as a standout on Central Queensland’s sports calendar.
“The Rocky River Run brings our community together in a way few events can, and many have been eagerly awaiting this exciting announcement.”
“Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with family, or dressing up for fun, this event celebrates everything that makes Rockhampton vibrant, active, and connected,” Mayor Williams said.
Parks, Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford said as the largest running event in Rockhampton, Rocky River Run is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Rockhampton to a wider audience by inviting friends and family to visit and participate in the race.
“This is an event for everyone — it usually attracts more than 2800 participants from across Central Queensland, from seasoned runners tackling the half marathon to kids enjoying the 2km fun run.”
“Our parks, pathways, and riverfront provide the perfect backdrop for a memorable race day. We’re proud to support an event that promotes wellbeing, community pride, and enjoyment of our beautiful outdoor spaces,” Councillor Rutherford said.
The Change Room Event Director Rob Dendle said we’re incredibly excited to be delivering another fantastic community event for the people of Central Queensland.
“We’re proud to continue the strong legacy and high standard of professionalism established by previous events, and we’re committed to delivering an experience that participants and spectators alike will enjoy,” Mr Dendle said.
“With strong interest already building, we encourage competitors to secure their registration as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, as the event has sold out in previous years. We wish everyone the best with their training and look forward to seeing runners on the start line on 17 May.”
